Hi, I’m Riane, the naturopath behind Wide Bay Apothecary

My interest in natural health began when I was rather young, and eventually led me to complete a Bachelor of Health Science in Naturopathy in Brisbane after finishing high school. I moved to Kilkivan around 2012 and worked as a naturopath in nearby Gympie, before taking a break from the professional scene in order to slow down focus on raising our family.

Naturopathy never really left my everyday life, though. Over the years I’ve continued using and learning about herbal medicine, nutrition and natural health, while also developing a love for making simple things at home. I began making tallow soap and body care products for my family around 2018, initially looking for fragrance-free, skin-friendly alternatives made from natural, locally sourced ingredients.

After years focused on family, I’ve found myself feeling the itch to blend herbs and help to solve health mysteries again. This little space, Wide Bay Apothecary, has sprouted naturally from there and will continue to grow as the seasons progress.

Today, it brings together the things I enjoy most: herbal medicine and natural health, handmade tallow soaps and body care, and a carefully selected range of useful natural health and household staples. Based here in Kilkivan, my hope is to make these products, and eventually quality naturopathic care, a little easier to access both locally and further afield.
